Since joining the murky world of politics 15 years ago, Migori Senator Wilfred Machage is facing a daunting task to remain the Kuria community political kingpin.
The University of Nairobi-trained medical doctor who was elected to the Senate in 2013 courtesy of a negotiated democracy in the cosmopolitan county has since declared that he will not be defending his Senate seat.
Instead, he has opted to go back to the familiar territory of Kuria West Constituency, a region he represented in Parliament for 10 years.
However, the veteran politician's decision to go back to Kuria politics has rattled area MP Mathias Rioba who has vowed to send him into political oblivion.
"He's welcome in the Kuria West race. He has nothing to show for his time as Senator," Rioba said.
The 60-year old Senator arrived at the decision after periods of feud with the ODM party, a political formation that sponsored him to parliament.
And for the Migori region that boasts the highest number of the Luo community members, the Senator is said to have feared losing the seat.
This comes amid reports that Machage is warning up to join Jubilee Party even as the government is keen to sway the region that voted for opposition in the last general elections.
