The lawmaker who has been in India for one month where he was undergoing brain cancer treatment on Saturday while speaking in Juja town dismissed claims that he was in a critical condition and unable to serve as the MP.

"I was shocked to hear that my opponents took advantage of my illness to mislead members of the constituents that I am unfit to serve as the area MP. I wish to assure my constituents I have come back from India strong to deliver as by the promises I made during the last year’s campaigns. My opponents who are constituents as well should help me in offering quality services to the electorates,” Waititu said.

He called on residents to shun divisive politicians who are out to derail development.

“Politicians should give a chance for the electorates to breathe after prolonged divisive politics last year. Residents should avoid politicians who are playing politics yet it is not the time for politics. Opponents should wait until 2022 to try the luck,” added the lawmaker.

He assured constituents that disbursement of bursary will be done fairly, transparently to benefit all students in the constituency.
