This is after a coffee task force formed by President Uhuru Kenyatta grouped coffee-growing counties in clusters instead of visiting each county individually.

Kigo said the plan defeats the purpose since most farmers will not be able to present their views to the committee.

"Each county has its unique problems and the team should not assume same problems cut across counties," he said.

"Coffee theft has been a major problem to our farmers and the task force should come on ground to get various proposals our farmers have," he added.

According to the cluster circulated by the task force, farmers from Kirinyaga county will have to travel to Karatina to join their Nyeri counterparts while those from Murang’a will meet in Kiambu county.
