Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire has slammed EACC for allegedly being selective in the fight against corruption and questioned its independence.

Mr Bosire who was addressing Nyabuya residents on Thursday accused EACC of working 'under orders' from above to clear certain individuals alleged to have engaged in corrupt deals.

He threatened to file a motion to disband the commission if it fails to explain circumstances that led to haste clearance of former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Ann Waiguru, before she was again implicated in a sworn affidavit on her alleged role in the loss of over Sh791 million at the National Youth Service (NYS).

“Kenyans are not blind and we are seeing the game being played by EACC. The commission has lost focus and it's working under orders from certain individuals. They hastily cleared Ms Waiguru (Ann) and this shows why I am ready to file a disbandment motion. We do not want selective fight against corruption and that act needs an explanation,” he said.

Mr Bosire alleged that the commission was being used by government to clear individuals who have close ties with the country's top leadership.

“The country has totally lost fight against corruption and the Ms Waiguru saga can vindicate me. It’s really disappointing that people who have close ties with the top leadership are spared. We know the beneficiaries of such impunity and this shows why we need a regime change in 2017,” he said.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party legislator issued a stern warning to the anti-corruption body, and challenged it to safeguard its integrity by acting independently.

“EACC is not a government or opposition property. It should deal with corruption cases without being coerced. Time has come for the commissioners and secretariat to be guided by integrity or they risk our wrath as Kenyans. We should not have some people being treated in a special manner on fight against corruption,” he said.

He called for throughout probe and prosecution of individuals adversely mentioned in the NYS saga without prejudices.
