National Assembly Transport Committee chairman David Pkosing wants heavy trucks stopped from using the Salgaa stretch while enroute to Nakuru-Eldoret.
The MP has instead proposed the diversion of the trucks from the Nakuru-Eldoret and let them use the Eldama Ravine diversion.
The law maker said trucks have been a major cause of accidents and there is need to have them seperated from other vehicles along the busy Nakuru-Eldoret highway before a dual carriageway is set up along the Salgaa stretch.
“That way we reduce the number of trucks using the dangerous spots on our highways,” he said.
