The MP told journalists at his office on Saturday that local leaders must work and represent the people on issues of development.

He said that people at grass roots risk being left behind if local leaders representing them are not active.

“Leaders at grass root levels must be active, participate and engage with the county officials for development,” he said.

The MP noted that various development projects are being commissioned in the constituency, and that local administrators must brief locals about the projects.

At the same time, the MP asked Machakos government to give more money to grass root areas.

He observed that many grass root areas are poor in terms of infrastructure development, adding that many roads in remote areas are impassable.

Mwangangi asked the county government to invest more in road infrastructure, saying it will connect the area to other counties across the region.

The legislator further said investing in infrastructure will give investors’ confidence of investing in the region.
