Kiambu Central Member of Parliament Jude Njomo has urged the national government to increase the money allocated to the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

Addressing the press on Tuesday, the MP said that increasing the fund will enable the CDF committees to initiate more development projects.

The law maker said that CDF has boosted the living standards of Kenyans since its inception and that funds allocated to it should be increased.

“I want to ask the national government to consider increasing the funds allocated to CDF,” said the MP.

Njomo said that through CDF people at garss root levels have benefited immensely from it. The MP observed that needy but bright students have been able to pursue and further their studies courtesy of CDF.

The legislator that he will be lobbying fellow legislators to have the funds increased so that more people can benefit.

He however asked CDF committees to ensure all rules and procedures are adhered to when issueing the money to beneficiaries.

The MP said that he will not tolerate cases of CDF mismanagement in his constituency saying transparency and accountability must be upheld.

Meanwhile the MP asked the county governor William Kabogo to initiate projects that will directly benefit the people. He said that people are in need of quality and effcient services which the government must provide.
