Juja legislator Francis Munyua has called for deployment of more police in the constituency to curb escalating crime.
Speaking to journalist at his office in Juja on Friday, the MP said that cases of crime are escalating in the area.
He said there is need for more police to be seconded to the area to deal with criminals’ allegedly causing residents’ sleepless nights.
“It is important for the Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo to deploy more police officers to Juja,” said Munyua.
The legislator stated that most residents and business people are living in fear of being attacked and robbed.
Munyua also asked the government to deploy a deputy police commander to coordinate security activities in the constituency.
He observed the constituency lacks a command, a situation he said has give criminals time to freely roam the estates and villages.
The lawmaker however urged the public to come out and report law breakers.
“I want t urge the public to often feel free to report criminals, any information can be crucial to help police track such criminals,” added Munyua.
Munyua said that security is a responsibility of every citizen, adding that it should not be left to law enforcers alone.
He called on the county government to initiate measures that will guarantee safety of residents and business people ahead of the festive season.
He further observed that crime rates are often common during the festive season saying police will have to intensify patrols to curb the criminals.
