Tiaty MP Asman Kamama has warned politicians against politicking on the insecurity crisis being witnessed in some parts of Baringo County.
The MP says that some politicians are using the crisis to campaign.
Speaking to journalists at parliament buildings in Nairobi on Tuesday, the Kamama warned that politicking will escalate the insecurity crisis that is causing fear among Baringo locals.
“Politicians must stop politicizing the insecurity issues facing some parts of Baringo and instead share ideas on how to address the situation,” he said as quoted by the People Daily.
Kamama said that normalcy will return in Baringo if politicians stop using the insecurity to campaign.
The lawmaker at the same time urged Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery to deploy more police to restore law and order.
He said that locals are living in fear following several cases of banditry attacks.
Baringo has experienced several cases of banditry attacks in the recent weeks that has led to loss of lives.
Last week two politicians were shot dead by suspected bandits at a night club.
The two, a member of County Assembly (MCA) and an aspiring MP were killed at a night club in Marigat town, Baringo South on Saturday night.
The killing of the two saw locals hold peaceful protests calling on the government to increase surveillance.
On Monday, Baringo senator Gideon Moi appealed to President Uhuru Kenyatta to intervene on the insecurity crisis.
Moi said that the situation is getting out hand and needs urgent intervention.
