Lamu Women Representative Ruweida Obo has hit out at NASA over its call for the boycott of certain products and services, saying it is a plot by the opposition to sink the country into an economic crisis. In a briefing with journalists at her office in Lamu Town on Wednesday, the Jubilee Women Rep said NASA’s economic boycott is unconstitutional.Obo noted that Kenyans have a right to enjoy services and products of their choice without restrictions, adding that NASA should use constitutional mechanisms to push its agenda.“It is wrong for the opposition to force their supporters and Kenyans to boycott certain products and services in the name of fighting for electoral justice,” said Obo.The MP noted that companies whose products and services NASA wants supporters to boycott have done nothing wrong, adding that its time the affected companies filed legal suits against the opposition’s top leadership.Obo noted that it is ironical for NASA to push for the boycott when a majority of Kenyans have been employed by the same companies whose services and products NASA wants supporters to boycott. The Women Rep warned that NASA’s boycott will lead to employees losing jobs, thus crippling the economy. She asked Kenyans not to be misled by politicians who are serving their own selfish interests.NASA through its National Resistance Movement (NRM) has asked supporters to boycott Safaricom, Brookside Dairies, and Bidco.
