South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro now wants the county government to expedite the construction of Sugar Complex at Nyangweta forest.
He said this in a meeting that included six MCAs from the area and South Mogirango residents.
The meeting was aimed at rounding up and getting views from the locals, upon the construction of the factory.
“We need this factory-like yesterday. Some of those opposed to its establishment come from other areas but we are the ones who know our problems. Once it is established, it will be a dream come true for the constituency,” said area MP Osoro.
The residents supported the construction saying that those criticizing the construction do not come from the area. They also said that they know the problems they are facing and what they want.
The meeting was graced by the County Governor Hon. James Ongwae, DP GovernorJoash Maangi, senator Sam Ongeri and other six MCAs. The MCAs who attended include: MCA James Ngisa (Bogetenga), Apepo Ombasa (Tabaka), Joseph Chweya (Boikanga), Samwel Nyambeki (Getenga), Evans Mokoro (Moticho) and Andrew Kimonge (Chitago/Borabu) who inclusively supported the project.
Ongwae said that the construction is underway, that they have met a lot of opposition in the quest to have the factory set up but they are committed to seeing it happen.
He also said the MoU they signed with the investor is watertight because he cannot use the title of the land they shall lease to him to acquire loans.
He also said their next venture will be in the soapstone sector.
