Muhoroni MP Onyango Koyoo said the killing is chilling, and should not be trivialized.

He said police should move with speed to find the killers of the MP, and wondered why police officers who were manning different government buildings were not able to respond to the gunshots in time.

He said police should be given time to investigate the incident, and stop pointing fingers without evidence.

“Let police do their work and I want to appeal to Kenyans to stop rumor mongering about this incident,” he said.

Speaking in Kisumu, the MP said it is in public domain that the late MP had court cases with the civil society and the leadership of Central Organization of Trade Unions.

Koyooo said the government has the responsibility to find killers and give a clear explanation why they were killed.

The MP said their security must now be guaranteed, and questioned the security apparatus in place.

He said there is need to bring in National Youth Service to provide security, since most of the police officers are now preoccupied with education.
