Speaking in his office in Mlolongo, the MP blamed the Kenya highway Authority of causing the Mlolongo area residents problems while accessing their homes and even businesses.

“As the area residents of Mlolongo, we are tired queuing for hours to access our homes and businesses. If Kenya National highway Authority cannot regulate the easy flow of vehicles in and out of the way bridge, then as the area residents, we will remove the barriers ourselves,” said Makau.

Makau further stated that Mlolongo is the capital centre of Machakos County, and many of the people living in the area have set up their businesses in the area, and further delay of removal of the barriers would be affecting the Machakos economy.

He also added that in case of an emergency, it was impossible for the residents to get immediate response.

“If the Way Bridge will continue in the same state as it is now, then in case of a fire breakout then no fire brigades can access the town on time,” added the MP.

He further called for immediate regulation or removal of the way bridge barriers by end of Monday evening.
