Yatta MP Francis Mwangangi has said he is hopeful that the rehabilitation of the Yatta canal in Yatta Sub-County will be completed in six months time.

Speaking on Thursday when he visited the canal, Mwangangi said the canal was supposed to be completed by November 2015 but due to slow progress on the site, only 12 per cent of the work has been completed.

Mwangangi called on the Yatta deputy county commissioner Allan Machari to ensure the project is supervised accordingly, adding that the contractor should expedite the process in a bid to beat the set deadline.

“I did my part in sourcing funds for the rehabilitation of the canal from the national government. It is the responsibility of the DCC to supervise any national project and I expect him to do so. The DCC should ensure the rehabilitation is completed in time,” he said.
