Balambala MP Abdikadir Aden has accused some local chiefs and administrators of allegedly campaigning for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election in the August 8 polls.

The MP claims that some chiefs in Balambala and the larger Garissa County are using their titles and resources to drum support for Jubilee’s re-election.

According to the MP, some local administrators are in charge of distributing Jubilee campaign merchandise, a move he said contravenes the election code of conduct.

Speaking during a campaign tour in Sankuri ward on Sunday, the MP asked the IEBC to take action against the said administrators.

“The IEBC and other agencies should crack the whip on civil servants who are openly engaging in campaigns,” he said.

The MP said that Jubilee has sensed defeat and is desperate for re-election.

He said that UhuRuto’s government has neglected the North eastern region in terms of development and no amount of visits in the area will sway locals to vote for them.

The ODM MP said that residents are ready to vote for NASA on August 8.

Reacting to the MP's concerns, Garissa county commissioner James Kianda termed the claims as propaganda.

'‘Politicians should stop speculating false claims especially this sensitive election period,” he said.

The commissioner also warned politicians against divisive politics.  Mr Kianda said that the law will not spare anyone found preaching disunity.
