Tong'i called on the Kisii County Government to consider engaging members of the business community before imposing taxes on them,to ensure there is an acceptable taxation system that will not impact negatively on the County's administration.

Speaking at Gusii Stadium during the marking of this year's Madaraka Day,Tong'i also warned the local business community members against taking to the streets to protest against the County Government's heavy taxes, instead use legal and traditional dispute resolution mechanisms accepted in the law .

"Iam challenging the County Government of Kisii to engage members of the business community in consultations and public participation forums,to strike a common ground on the kind of taxation system to be implemented by the County administration on a win-win situation to avert a backlash from the traders,"Stated Tong'i

The MP observed that, imposing heavy taxes on the traders by the County Government could suppress economic growth in the County, since a section of the investors will be scared by heavy taxes and close shop to the disadvantage of the County's economic progress.
