This will be Mr Odinga’s first visit to the region since the 2013 elections despite his ODM party winning majority of elective seats.

Already, a political crisis is looming between the incumbent Governor John Nyagarama and West Mugirango MP James Gesami, both who will be facing each other in 2017 elections.

The two leaders have separately vowed to attend the function.

But Bosire who is party’s national treasurer has called for calm during the visit, and urged leaders to restrain their supporters from clashing.

“The function should be peaceful and no one should be allowed to disrupt it or heckle other leaders. We have an obligation as ODM leaders to restrain our supporters from out doing each other. We must remain sober throughout the event,” he said.

“We may be having minor internal problems as Nyamira people but we must remain focused and welcome our guest without necessarily narrowing it down to shouting competitions amongst us. Everyone should be given chance to speak without prejudice,” he said.

He also said those charged with ensuring security will be vigilant and will not hesitate to take action against rowdy supporters during the event.

“We also have our own security system apart from the police. They will stay vigilant and won’t take chances whenever a threat is detected. The event must be peaceful,” he said.
