Kitui South  MP  Rachel Kaki Nyamai has asked politicians across the political divide to halt 2022 succession politics debate and focus on giving services to Kenyans.

Nyamai says that majority of elected politicians are wasting time discussing and strategizing for 2022.

The Kitui South MP asked politicians to settle down and work.

She said that President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga’s meeting last Friday put an end to all political debates.

The Jubilee legislator observed that it is time for elected leaders sat down and delivered on the promises they made to their electorates in the run-up to last year’s general election.

“It is time we elected leaders stopped these petty 2022 succession politics and worked for Kenyans who elected us to various seats,” she said as quoted by a local daily on Wednesday.

The MP said that the country risks failing to attain its development goals should politicians continue politicking.

Nyamai warned that continued debate on 2022 will create animosity among some politicians and derail realization of development.

She said that 2017 general election chapter closed and that the next election will be n 2022.

Nyamai asked Kenyans to demand services from their elected leaders and shun politicians who are bend on politicking.

On Friday last week, President Kenyatta met with Raila Odinga in a surprise meeting.

The two leaders pledged to unite the country that was sharply divided by last year’s presidential election.

There meeting continues to elicit sharp reactions even as calls for wider and inclusive dialogue continues to come out.
