They escaped death narrowly after angry residents attacked them over suspected criminal activities on Saturday night.

They were rescued by police officers following a tip off from the public.

He sustained slight injuries after he escaped from members of the public who were baying for his blood.

They were cornered by bodaboda operators near the Star hospital along Kisumu- Kakamega road over an alleged attempt to steal a motorbike.

Keitany said the two were not on official duty in Kisumu according to information given by the MP.

Speaking on the phone, Washiali said he left the two at home when he was travelling to Nairobi.

“As we speak I am with my daughter at the hospital. I was with my driver and bodyguard on Friday evening before I came to Nairobi,” he said.

Washiali said he learnt of the matter last night when Kisumu central police station OCS John Kithela called to inform him over the incident.

He urged police to carry out thorough investigation over the matter to establish what the two were doing in Kisumu when armed and not on official duty.
