On Wednesday Cord through Senator Johnson Muthama halted the protests for the coming week in honor of three people who were allegedly shot dead by the police on Monday and to allow pave a way for dialogue.

Through a phone conversation, Onyonka also urged the government to seize the opportunity and engage the opposition in dialogue.

“I want to thank Cord for halting the protests because we all want to be peaceful. A peacefully country is ideal for investment and a small thing cannot make us mad against each other,” he said.

“Time has come for us to embrace dialogue on this IEBC matter. It’s a small issue that cannot be allowed to disintegrate a peaceful society," said Onyonka.

"The government should seize the opportunity and engage in dialogue because that provision can save our country,” said the ODM rebel MP.

He called for sobriety from all political players and said disbandment of IEBC to pave the way for a peaceful atmosphere for 2017 elections was not a big deal.

“IEBC is not life and death. It’s all about having confidence and now when one team raises issues I don’t see a reason why they will insist on staying. Time has come for us to be sober and address the matter objectively,” he said.
