President Uhuru Kenyatta should resign over the current skyrocketing prices of basic commodities, South Mugirango MP Manson Nyamweya has said.

Nyamweya said the prices have soared and many families can barely afford a single meal a day. This, he says, is because the Jubilee administration has failed to put proper measures to cushion Kenyans from hunger.

“It is high time President Uhuru Kenyatta quits office because he has failed to address the high cost of living,” Nyamweya told the Star on Tuesday.

The Kenya National Congress leader said Kenyatta's advisers are asleep on the job, and have failed to predict and prevent problems well in advance.

“The President has all the experts who should advise him beforehand on challenges the country is facing before crises occur,” Nyamweya noted.

The legislator added: “It is so bad to task experts to come up with good policies but they are not implemented."

President Kenyatta has attributed the high cost of living to the drought which has faced the country for the past four months.

He has also said his Jubilee government is doing its best to lower prices.
