Led by the leader of majority, Aden Duale, the MPs accused the governors of having sent sh998.5 million to CoG in the past three years. They termed the move immoral.

Duale said the governors had taken advantage of devolution and were stealing money from the county kitties and forwarding it to Nairobi. He said that the governor’s plan to use the money for their own personal gain. They further titled the ongoing devolution meeting a ‘celebration to corruption’. They also went ahead to praise the senators for not attending the meeting. They accused the governors of being corrupt leaders.

Duale attacked the governors saying they were not supposed to send the money to CoG at all. He pointed out that that was the work of the National Treasury and not governors. He revealed that the highest contributor was Turkana County with sh58 million while Machakos was the least with sh340, 000.

Minority leader, Francis Nyenze, however, said they could not keep on celebrating corruption when the nation was languishing in poverty.
