Mr Bosire come to the public limelight when he defied President Uhuru Kenyatta’s order to stand in honour of soldiers who had died in Somalia citing mistreatment of the bereaved families and was recently charged with hate speech after being detained for four days in police custody.

Speaking separately to this reporter, Borabu MP Ben Momanyi hailed Mr Bosire’s courage terming him a good person who can lead a team while North Mugirango’s Charles Geni insisted on the need to have him as their sole spokesperson.

“The reason why the Gusii community struggles to make an impact in terms of social-economic development is because we do not speak in one voice. Bosire is a good person and honestly, he is worthy to lead the community,” Momanyi said.

“We have so many leaders from across the political divide and there comes a time when the interest of the community is bigger than our political persuasions. I fully support Bosire in this,” he added.

Geni on his part urged Gusii leaders to back the first time MP saying his longtime experience in the political arena was worth to be emulated, and maintained that he will support him.

“All of us cannot lead the community at once and my opinion is Mr Bosire can for now lead us so that we can speak as one team. He is open to all of us and embraces consultations. Perhaps we can all support him,” he added.

However, historian Nyachieo Bogonko downplayed the MPs' proposals saying the region could only have one spokesperson if they form a single political party.

“It’s hard to make him (Bosire) a spokesperson because he is a staunch member of the ODM and the region doesn’t not fully support the party. The only remedy to that is having a common political party with similar ideologies,” he said.
