Three MPs in Nakuru are calling on the Kenya National Highways Authority to build a dual carriageway along the notorious Salgaa stretch.
The route, along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway, has been a killer spot as a week rarely passes before a fatal crash is reported.
Now, Nakuru Town East MP David Gikaria, Rongai’s Raymond Moi and Joseph Tonui of Kuresoi South has said KenHa should build a dual carriage to avoid future accidents.
“Hardly a week passes without a fatal accident occurring on the stretch. The majority of these collisions involve trucks. KeNHA should move with speed to make the stretch a dual carriageway,” Mr Moi told Nation.
Sentiments echoed by Gikaria.
The latest victims of the blackspot is fifteen passengers who were killed after their matatu lost control and hit a truck.
They died on the spot.
Many believe small vehicles should be seperated from trucks snaking through the stretch to avoid crashed.
