One person was killed and two others hospitalised as an MP's car was involved in an accident.

Kisumu East MP Shakeel Shabbir's car collided with a bodaboda rider as the lawmaker returned from an event in Nyamache in Kisii County on Thursday.

The MP rushed the three to hospital with a different car where the bodaboda rider only identified as Alex, 27, died from.

Those knocked by the car had been taken to the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital.

The other two by the time of the publication of this story, Wylkster Maina and Lydia Maina were still receiving treatment.

"The motorcyclist was driving very fast and before we could know, it had hit my car,” Shakir, who was driving himself said the accident spot as quoted by tuko.

A witness who was at the scene also said the bodaboda rider was overspeeding.

"The motorcyclist was speeding before he hit the car which was en route from Nyamache town,” Joel Nyabuto said.

The MP's car was taken to Ogembo police station.
