JLAC is from January 10, expected to kick-start the vetting exercise of nominees to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

President Uhuru Kenyatta nominated six commissioners and a chairman to head the agency. They include: Wafula Wanyonyi Chebukati (chairman), and commissioners Consolata Bucha, Boya Molu, Roselyn Akombe, Paul Kurgat, Margaret Mwachanya and Abdi Guliye.

Headed by Samuel Chepkonga, JLAC will first vet Chebukati, and later invite the commissioners on the following day, and complete the exercise before January 17.

National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale said MPs may be recalled on January 18 or 19, to debate and either approve or reject the JLAC report.

"This is to ensure that IEBC gets new team on time for preparation of the August 8 general elections. We don't want to delay anything,'' he said, Monday.
