Mr Midiwo accused Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga of misusing the county resources, vowing that this would not happen under his watch.

"We won't allow any kind of theft by this county government. Raila was not detained in jail in order to devolve our resources for people to steal, I'm going to talk about it seriously. We are not going to allow anyone to taint the image of Raila," said Midiwo.

He said he would do everything possible to ensure that the governor is not re-elected come 2017.

He further challenged the governor to show all his completed projects to the electorates before he is re-elected.

"Raila was taken to jail where he was detained for nine months so that everyone may have freedom. So that both the elderly, the widows and the youth would have something to own. Therefore, we as people of Siaya, whoever will not sell his manifesto to us won't be elected the governor," added the legislator.

On the other hand, Dr Oburu criticised Midiwo for his sentiments.

He said it is the role of the Siaya County Assembly members to audit the governor and not members of the national assembly.

"I'm neither an auditor nor the EACC. Neither am I a CID nor an MCA. So as a member of parliament, I can't just go abuse a colleague that he is a thief. How do I call you a thief if I can't tell that which you've stolen?" posed the nominated MP.

He however advised Midiwo to give the governor a chance to be investigated first before he is accused of any corruption deals.
