A section of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) MPs have questioned President Uhuru Kenyatta’s personal interest in the reopened Webuye Pan Paper Mills.
Speaking at Parliament buildings after Uhuru’s reopening of the factory, Nyando MP Fred Outa and his Ugunja counterpart Opiyo Wandayi questioned why the president had launched a private investment using taxpayers money.
"As the President launches the Pan Paper mills, we want him to declare his personal interest in this private company," Wandayi said in a press brief at Parliament Buildings.
"The public can’t finance the President to launch a private company. That is a big scandal in the making," he said.
They also said that there was another "well-calculated scheme" by Jubilee to privatise the grand Sh3.9 billion Kisumu Mall which is at the Lake Basin Development Authority headquarters.
