According to the ODM politicians, the decision to ignore the former Prime Minister from the list of those honored is a deliberate attempt to humiliate him (Raila).

Addressing the press in Kisumu, Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi and his Nyando counterpart Fred Outa said as Nyanza region, they will not take the matter lightly and that Uhuru should apologise immediately.

"President Kenyatta cannot be preaching national unity and cohesion on one hand while the other hand is displaying disdain towards our leaders," Wandayi said.

"If you disrespect Jaramogi and Raila, we shall also disrespect you in equal measure," he added.

On his part, Outa said the Luo community is not going to engage with the Jubilee government until the President apologises.

He added that the president should not personalise national holidays to settle political scores against the Odinga family.
