Kisumu Members of Parliament and County Assembly have been asked to stop too much politics and concentrate on the development of the county.
Speaking during a consultative forum held in Kisumu Central constituency yesterday aimed at mitigating ways through which the development of the lakeside county can be enhanced, various groups challenged the county leaders to help the county move forward.
Kisumu City Residents Voice Association Chairman Audi Ogada noted that too much politics was going to plunge the county into more political and economic darkness as well as scare away potential local and international investors.
Ogada asked the seven Members of Parliament in the county to spearhead development in Kisumu rather than concentrating in too much politicking.
“The seven legislators from Kisumu East, Kisumu Central, Kisumu West, Seme, Nyakach, Nyando and Muhoroni constituencies should ensure that development is seen in their areas before the county government can do its part.
Our 49 MCAs should also concentrate on agendas that are aimed at developing Kisumu rather than legislation of motions that will not take Kisumu anywhere,” lashed out Audi.
Manyatta Youth Bunge Chairman Benson Onoka regretted that effects of devolution were still not being felt by the locals as the county leaders were engaged in too much politics.
