An attempt to solve a border wrangle that has stalled a development project Bahati is in the offing after the meeting of two Members of Parliament together with their Constituency Development Fund officials at the site of the project on Thursday.
Nakuru- East Member of parliament David Gikaria and his Bahati counterpart Kimani Ngujiri met at a proposed market site in Mawanga estate together with their respective CDF committee members and had a lengthy discussion in company of Workers Women Progressive Group members which had proposed the market project.
According to the chairman of Mawanga Youth Agenda group Antony Waweru, the leaders and the officials barred members of the public from the meeting after briefly addressing them and hinting that they wanted to solve “a small” problem to enable the construction of the market to continue.
“The MPs dished out small handouts of money to members of the public and dismissed them from the scene where they had a meeting for about two hours before driving away. There is no exact information about what they discussed about but we gather that a committee was constituted to look into the matter and give a feed back to the MPs,” said Waweru.
The media had earlier reported that a wrangle over the border and the sponsoring and control of the proposed market had erupted, after it emerged that the women group had received funds to construct the market from both the constituencies CDF kitty.
