Three Luhya legislators allied to the Jubilee Party have cautioned that the perceived rivalry between the Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula could wreck the National Super Alliance (NASA).
According to the Star, the legislators led by Benjamin Washiali (Mumias East), Emmanuel Wangwe (Navakholo) and Dan Wanyama (Webuye West), claimed on Thursday that it was impossible for Mudavadi and Wetangula to work under the same political arrangement, despite the two pledging to work in unity during the Opposition's meeting on Wednesday in Nairobi.
“If you want to join a metal to another metal or plastic to plastic, there is a particular special glue to use. The only glue to use to unite Mudavadi and Wetang’ula is when neither of them is the leader,” Washiali noted.
“There are people you cannot put in one basket. If one of them emerges tops, they start fighting each other the next day. We just give them one month or two and see what will come out,” he added.
Wetangula, late last year led key Luhya leaders including Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale in opposing the crowning of Mudavadi as the community's spokesperson, in a ceremony presided over by Cotu secretary general Francis Atwoli in Bukhungu Stadium.
