Speaking at Wamagana grounds in his Tetu Constituency during a school prize giving ceremony, Mr Gethenji said that the only thing that could return the leaders to sanity was the retaking of the oath to protect the constitution.

"All legislators were sworn to protect the constitution as soon as they were elected but now those from the opposition have started going against it, said Mr Gethenji.

Gethenji further said that democracy and constitutionalism in the country were under threat and the best way to curb the danger was for the elected leaders to be reminded of their core mandate.

"There is no way reforms on IEBC can be carried away from Parliament. The constitution is clear on how to go about it," he said.

Deputy County Commissioner Harman Shambi apologised on behalf of the adults to the young ones and asked them not to imitate what a section of grown-ups are practicing in the streets.
