Silas Kipkoech Tiren, MP for Moiben constituency has called on Kenyans of goodwill to embrace tree planting to enable Kenya to achieve appropriate green cover.

Tiren was speaking in Parlament on Tuesday during a motion on environmental conservation.

“I plead with Kenyans of goodwill to take advantage of the rainy season by planting a tree each as we aim at achieving the minimum percentage of green over in our nation,” said Tiren.

He urged Kenyans to take advantage of the rains which will help a lot in the maintenance of the green covered in the country.

Between the year 2001 and 2016, the country lost almost two hundred and fifty hectares of trees which have not been replaced to date.

Other legislators who contributed to the also expressed the need for every Kenyan to help replenish the lost trees.
