On Tuesday and Wednesday President Uhuru Kenyatta dished out millions of shilling to internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Kisii and Nyamira, but now two MPs from the region have attacked the move by the Head of State.

The two MPs, ODM's treasure Timothy Bosire and his Borabu compatriot Ben Momanyi claimed that the president is using state resources to entice voters and the move to compensate victims of the 2007/08 election violence in 2017 is a political gimmick to hoodwink residents.

"This is a mockery to the community. It is shameful," Momanyi said.

"As a member of the Public Accounts Committee, I am doubtful about the source of the funds. I do not recall the PAC giving a nod for funds to be dished out by the head of state as he is doing. This is illegal and unconstitutional," said Bosire.

Uhuru, in his two-day tour of Gusii region, paid IDPS from Kisii Sh358 million and Sh470 million to those from Nyamira.

Bosire further questioned the timing of the compensation despite the fact that IDPs deserve to be paid.
