The National Assembly committee on Agriculture has given President Uhuru Kenyatta until Tuesday to sack Cabinet Secretary Willy Bett for failing to deliver.
Led by their Vice Chairman Kareke Mbiuki, the committee said Bett has mismanaged the agriculture docket and claimed that he was overseeing another maize scandal in the ministry.
They therefore gave Uhuru until Tuesday for the CS to resign voluntarily or there will be mass action.
"The CS misled the house and the entire nation that we had sufficient food stocks," he said.
"If indeed there were enough reserves, the CS should account for the two million bags, if not, he should also take responsibility for lying," he added.
Mbiuki was accompanied by MPs Opiyo Wandayi (Ugunja), Mary Wambui (Othaya), Florence Mutua (Busia MP) and Fred Outa (Nyando).
