Committee's chairman who is also the Tinderet MP Julius Melly said they have already held a meeting with the education cabinet secretary over the matter.

Speaking during an Education day at Chemundu primary school in Chesumei constituency, Melly expressed optimism that the strike that has crippled learning in all public universities will soon come to an end.

"As a committee, we are working seriously to see to it that this strike comes to an end by bringing on the table all the parties involved in this matter," said Melly.

"We've already met the Education CS and this Tuesday we will be meeting Treasury CS and see if the government can table a counter CBA that will culminate to our students going back to class so that university education resumes," he added.

Lectures and other non-teaching staff at public universities across the country have been on strike for over three weeks now demanding for the tabling, negotiation and implementation of the 2017-2021 CBA.

They have vowed not to resume work until their demands are fully implemented.
