The 2022 succession politics in the Jubilee camp is gathering steam after legislators from the President Uhuru Kenyatta's faction differed on who should be the party's flag bearer.
Elgeyo Marakwet County Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has threatened Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu saying he would lose his parliamentary seat in 2022 if he would not support the election of Deputy President William Ruto.
According to a report, Murkomen cautioned Ngunjiri who is opposed to the election of Ruto as president in 2022, to change his stance or consider losing his MP seat in the election.
The Senator who doubles up as the leader of Majority in the Senate challenged Ngunjiri to learn from his Kikuyu counterpart Kimani Ichung'wah by supporting the regime, arguing that Ruto was the undisputed successor of Uhuru.
Ichung'wah and Murkomen jointly criticised the move by Ngunjiri who is also a Jubilee member, the party which helped him become an MP. The legislators spoke in a church in Ngunjiri's backyard in an event which the latter was conspicuously missing.
Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen an ally of Deputy President William Ruto told Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu he was watering down his influence.
Murkomen's sentiments come just after other leaders from Central Kenya region told Ngunjiri he was on his own in his bid to denounce Ruto's candidature in the 2022 General Election.
It was earlier reported that Nyeri Senator Ephraim Maina and Nyeri Woman Representative Rahab Mukami had led a section of Members of County Assembly (MCAs) from the area to denounce association with Ngunjiri.
The MP was however unmoved by the sentiments of his counterparts maintaining that the Central region owes Ruto nothing.
