A Nyamira MCA has urged Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire and his Borabu counterpart Ben Momanyi to facilitate renovation of a local primary school located at a common border point.
Ken Atuti of Gesima ward who paid the institution a courtesy call on Thursday lamented that the two leaders had never heeded to calls to have a common plan to renovate Nyansimwamu Primary School.
According to Atuti, efforts by him and his Nyansiongo counterpart Jackson Mogusu to persuade CDF committee of the two constituencies have never been fruitful, with both reportedly declining to help over boundary issues.
“I want to urge our two MPs to chip in and help this institution in terms of repairing leaking roofs and collapsing classrooms. It’s now beyond the help of county governments given the limited resources we operate on. CDF from both Borabu and Kitutu Masaba committees have been playing mind games with us,” he said.
According to him, the leadership of the two constituencies should take charge given the institution is physically in Borabu and administratively in Kitutu Masaba, a similar scenario that has also rocked Nyaronge Primary School.
“This is not the first case. In Nyaronge Primary, the situation is the same. The fact that the institution has a connection to a constituency should make it qualify for CDF assistance,” he said.
During the visit, Atuti commissioned two classrooms that had been constructed by Nyamira County government in conjunction with Gesima and Nyansiongo wards leadership for use.
