Kiambu women representative Annah Nyokabi and Lari MP Mburu Kahangara said enough was enough with the unfairness, and they would lobby for a 30-40 per cent intake.

“We had only five admissions from the entire Kiambu County last year. Only five of our pupils were admitted to the national secondary schools based in Kiambu County like Alliance, Loreto and others,” said Nyokabi.

She said as legislators, they would not just sit and see their children suffering after having worked hard in primary school and getting high marks.

“We contribute through CDF to the development of schools, and the county also chips in one way or the other. We therefore demand a higher intake of our pupils in national schools in Kiambu County. We have the burden of maintaining the schools and we also need to benefit from them,” said Kahangara.

He said they were following the matter with the Ministry of Education and would demand a 30-40 per cent slots in the national schools within the county, and not having only enrolments from outside the county.

The two were speaking in Lari during the opening of the St Joseph the Worker-Kiriita Secondary School.
