Shelmith Naisola and James Kamau are the 2016 Miss and Mr Maseno University respectively.
The two were crowned on Sunday dawn in a colourful event held at the University's graduation square.
The eve to Sunday saw various models showcase their talents by cat-walking and also parading in a variety of apparel, ranging from African traditional ware, casual ware, glamorous gowns and even apparel crafted from Coca-Cola soda cans, straws and plastic bottles.
Miss Naisola was however taken in a state of trance when her name was mentioned.
She said that though she hoped for the best, her mention as the varsity's beauty queen was typically out of her expectations.
“I am humbled and I thank everyone who helped me achieve this,” she said.
Mr Kamau, who was also overjoyed, appeared to be smiling for the greater part of the event, said he was taken by surprise.
Kenya's famous local music artist Majja led the comrades in putting their best foot forward, while comedian Chipukeezy, who was the Master of Ceremony, cracked ribs every time he rose to master the ceremony.
Timothy Omondi and Mildred Wandia, who are the Mr and Miss Maseno 20115 /2016 respectively, were also present at the auspicious event.
They passed on the mantle to Mr Kamau and Miss Naisola (Mr and Miss Maseno 2016), while congratulating them for their victory.
Opande Kweya, the Dean of Students, among other high profiled academicians were also in attendance.
The event was sponsored by Coca-Cola, SOMU, KCB and Nation FM.
