Mr Jabiri Ali Dzuya and Mr Bwanamkuu Alwan were charged with killing the officers on the eve of the 2013 general election.

The court heard that the two accused persons killed Changamwe OCPD Atieno Owuor, Chief Inspector Salim Kimutai Chebil and police constables Stephen Maithya and Andrew Songira.

The court heard that Mr Dzuya, who was the then chairman of the group and his co-accused, Mr Alwan, wore face masks and ribbons during the time of the attack that took place at Jomvi-Miritini within Mombasa County.

The prosecution told the court that MRC did not want elections to be held in Mombasa and the Coast region at that time of the incident.

Justice Martin Muya found the accused persons guilty of the charges, saying the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt, as the machete found in Mr Dzuya’s possession was linked to the killing of the officers.
