The Mombasa Republican Council (MRC) has denied claims it plans to cause chaos and boycott Tuesday's general election.

The group has termed the reports as rumors.

Through secretary general Randu Nzai, the group said it has no intention of boycotting the elections.

Nzai urged Coast residents to turn out in large numbers and vote for their preferred leaders.

“Those purporting that MRC has urged its members not to participate in the election are not our members. Whenever election season approaches, people with a bad motive begin dragging MRCs in insecurity threats, we say we are not part of these,” he said.
