The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) recruitment exercise went smoothly in Msambweni Constituency, Kwale County, on Tuesday even as huge number of youth turned up to try their lack.
Over 20 women were however turned away at Jomo Kenyatta Primary School grounds recruitment centre after Lt Colonel Langat, the Senior Recruiting Officer announced that only men would participate in the recruitment.
He said as there were no slots for women in the constituency.
"I know many of the women are disappointed with the fact that we have no slots for them now, but maybe there will be a time when we will reduce the number of men," he said.
The women lamented that they were also turned away during the 2017 recruitment, and wondered why KDF was not giving them equal chances as men.
According to Col Langat, KDF targeted to recruit 20 to 25 youth from Kwale county in the one month exercise which kicked off February 12.
