The late IEBC director Chris Msando's senior James Muhati was on Monday evening confronted and attacked by mourners at the City Mortuary.
The angered mourners accused the electoral commission's ICT director of betraying Msando and asked him to leave.
Muhati had come to view the body in the company of IEBC colleagues.
One mourner claimed Muhati was part of the problem which Msando faced at his workplace.
She attempted to attack him but was restrained.
Three other mourners confronted Muhati as he ran towards other IEBC commissioners and staff.
Muhati was in May suspended for one month after being accused of refusing to cooperate with audit officers checking the agency's ICT systems.
The decision was arrived at during a disciplinary meeting chaired by IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati.
In his place, Msando was appointed the acting director but Muhati was reinstated a month later.
