Mount Kenya elders have put together a plan that they believe will, grant President Uhuru Kenyatta favor on August 8th.
On Friday the elders plan to gather and pray in an effort to ask the gods to aid the incumbent president ahead of next week’s election.
According to Phares Rutere, National Council of Elders chairman stated that Embu, Meru and Kikuyu elders plan to gather and pray.
He added that the prayers will also include customary rituals during this time as they pray to the gods.
"Elders from Meru will bring honey and sorghum while those from Embu will bring chicken. Those from Kikuyu will bring lambs," Rutere said as reported by The Star.
The leaders plan to also pray for peace during the election week as well as a peaceful shift of power should opposition leader Raila Odinga win.
The group of elders have supported the president ahead of the election after witnessing the development he has brought to the country.
"What he has done cannot be put down on paper. The President has done a very good job...that is why we are supporting him," he said. "We don't see anything wrong with the current government."
