Mt Kenya leaders will seek to form an economic block so as to bolster their bargaining power when it comes to funding and development projects from the central government.
The leaders also intend to form a political caucus for the region.
In a recently-held meeting at Thika Greens Hotel, the issue of President Uhuru's succession was widely discussed.
The debate was sparked by anxieties about the vacuum of power in the region after the president's exit from power in 2022.
The counties represented were Nyeri, Muranga, Kirinyaga, Kiambu, Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Embu, Nairobi, and Nakuru.
''We agreed that we must demand our rights as a region. We are in pursuit of mega projects like railway, roads, and dams, together with our own unity as a region,'' said Tetu MP Gichuhi Mwangi.
He revealed that governors who did not attend were represented by other leaders from their county.
