Kiambu Governor William Kabogo ha dismissed speculations that former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth is being groomed by Mt Kenya region for the 2022 presidential bid.

According to Kabogo, the speculations are baseless.

Speaking in Juja during a meet the people tour on Tuesday, Kabogo said that Mt Kenya region will fully support Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid.

“Speculations being spread in some media outlets that Mt Kenya region is grooming Kenneth as its 2022 flag bearer are not true,” he said.

Kabogo stated that Mt Kenya will stand solidly with DP Ruto in 2022.

He accused some opposition leaders of triggering the speculations with the aim of creating disunity in Jubilee Party ahead of 2017 elections.

“We know the people who are behind this speculations and their aim is to see Jubilee Party get divided,” he claimed.

On Sunday, Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo asked DP Ruto to quit Jubilee Party claiming that Mt Kenya will not support his 2022 bid.

Midiwo claimed that Mt Kenya is grooming Kenneth as the region’s 2022 flag bearer.

Political analysts and pundits are also speculating on the possibility that Mt Kenya might not back DP Ruto following former Gatanga MP’s support for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election in 2017.

On Sunday Kenneth said that his party, Kenya National Congress (KNC) has joined Jubilee Party.

The former MP who in 2013 vied for the presidential seat and emerged fourth said that he will back Uhuru’s re-election in 2017.

Kenneth also said that he will be contesting for Nairobi gubernatorial seat.

According to sources, the former MP will on Sunday officially announce his bid for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat.
