A section of leaders from Nyeri and Embu counties allied to the Opposition team have criticised president Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto for failing to recognise the National Super Alliance (Nasa) flag bearer Raila Odinga during the Madaraka Day celebrations.
The former prime minister who attended the celebrations, held at Kabiru-ini Stadium, Nyeri county, was neither given any chance to address the public nor presence acknowledged.
The Opposition officials led by ODM and Nasa co-ordinator in the Mt Kenya region, Gitonga Wathanga, told the press they were shocked by the Uhuru and Ruto’s move to ignore Raila.
Wathanga further attacked the Jubilee administration for turning a national event into an ethnic based function.
“A large part of celebrations, including entertainment centered to an audience from the Kikuyu ethnic group,” Wathanga said, Thursday.
