Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has condemned DP William Samoei Ruto’s heated campaigns across the country saying it is a sign of disrespecting the president Kenyatta.
Ruto, who has was the first beneficiary of Uhuru and Raila handshake, has been conducting inroad tours and meetings as he prepares himself for the 2022 showdown.
However, in a post on Facebook, Ngunjiri said that those campaigning for the seat, to hold back and wait until Uhuru Kenyatta accomplishes his term and completes his legacy actions.
"At this rate, those of us involved in presidential campaigns should actually allow Uhuru Kenyatta to complete his term and accomplish his legacy actions. Or are we planning at some point before 2022 to manage Uhuru in sidelines of political power so that we can be in full control of 2022 elections?” said Ngunjiiri.
"In my opinion what is happening is actually very disrespectful to Uhuru Kenyatta. A mzee I hold in very regard recently told me that it is equivalent to a young man (Ruto) wanting to inherit his father (Uhuru) while he is still alive,” added.
According to Ngunjiri, the Uhuru Kenyatta remains the president until 2022 August. So, until then his position should remain uncontested for four and half years
